Sara Tallmadge, CFAH animal care staff member, has been named winner of Ohio Farm Bureau’s 2024 Excellence in Agriculture Award. The award recognizes successful young agricultural professionals who are actively contributing and growing through their involvement within Farm Bureau, their community, and agriculture. The competition involves an in-depth application process where after the judge’s evaluation, the top competitors are invited to participate in a 25-minute presentation to determine the winner at the Young Ag Professionals Winter Leadership Experience. Participants are judged on their involvement in agriculture, leadership ability, participation/involvement in Farm Bureau and other organizations (i.e., civic, service and community), and responses to issues facing agriculture.
Sara competed in the final round at the 2024 Young Ag Professionals Winter Leadership Experience, hosted in Columbus, on Jan. 26th along with three other finalists from across Ohio. As the winner, she will compete in the national contest during the 2025 American Farm Bureau Annual Convention in San Antonio, TX.
