On May 5th, during Spring Commencement, three of CFAH’s own received their degrees from The Ohio State University along with over 12,555 of their fellow graduates.
- Shonna Smith, a masters student advised by Dr. Gireesh Rajashekara, received her MS after successfully presenting her MS project seminar titled “Comparative genomics of Listeria monocytogenes isolated from small specialty crop farms (SSCF) in Northeast Ohio” on April 8th, 2024
- Kush Kumar Yadav, a Ph.D. candidate advised by Dr. Scott Kenney, received his Ph.D. after successfully defending his dissertation titled “Cross-species Infection and Characterization of Rocahepevirus ratti Hepatitis E Virus” on April 5th, 2024
- Yu Li, a masters student advised by Dr. Qiuhong Wang, received her MS after successfully presenting her MS project seminar titled “Isolation, Characterization, and Reverse Genetics Platform Construction for Bovine Coronaviruses” on April 11th, 2024

- Raksha Suresh, a masters student advised by Dr. Aradhya Gourapura, received her MS after successfully presenting her MS project seminar titled “Evaluating the Protective Efficacy of Chitosan-nanoparticle based adjuvanted oral Salmonella subunit vaccine against bacterial colonization in broilers” on June 18th, 2024
- Menuka Bhandari, a Ph.D. candidate advised by Dr. Gireesh Rajashekara, received her Ph.D. after successfully defending her dissertation titled “Genomic Epidemiology of Salmonella in Small Specialty Crop Farms of Northeast Ohio and Application of Probiotics and Novel Antimicrobial Peptides against Salmonella in Poultry” on July 10th, 2024
- Anusree Thenissery, a masters student advised by Dr. Gireesh Rajashekara, received her MS after successfully presenting her MS project seminar titled “Identification and Characterization of Small Molecule Quorum Sensing Inhibitors as Novel Non-Antibiotic Solutions against Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli Infections” on July 11th, 2024
- Saroj Khatiwada, a masters student advised by Dr. Scott Kenney and Dr. Gireesh Rajashekara, received his MS after successfully presenting his MS project seminar titled “Evaluation of reoviral arthritis in turkeys: Roles of age and co-infection on disease outcome” on July 26th, 2024
- Sara Tallmadge, a CFAH staff member, also received her Master of Clinical Research with a specialization in Clinical Research Management
